SaReGaMaPa Mega Challenge!!

Zee TV is now bringing to the viewers a unique musical show which will bring together the talents from various states. The show titled SaReGaMaPa Mega Challenge, will see three singers representing one state. In total, there will be eight states. This show was earlier titled ‘Mahakumbh’.

According to our source, “This show will bring together the gems of SaReGaMaPa and other musical shows of Zee TV. The eight states which will be shown in the show are Rajasthan, Maharasthra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam, Kolkata and Punjab”.

The contestants taking part in the show will represent the state they belong to.

“Rajasthan will have Raja Hasan and Priyanka Malya, while the third contestant is yet to be finalized”, informs our source.

“Vaishali Made, Rohit Shyam Rao and Kaushik Deshpande will represent the Maharashtra team, while Poonam Yadav, Twinkle Bajpai and Yatharth Ratnum will represent Uttar Pradesh. Sumedha Karmahe, Aamir Hafiz, Pratibha Singh Badhel will be in the Madhya Pradesh group, famous singer who has sung for Saawariyan Parthiv Goel, Deepali Somayiah, Prachee Shah will represent Gujarat. Assam will have Anamika Choudhury, Joy Chakraborthy and Abhigyan Das. Kolkata will see the likes of Sanchita Bhattacharya, Ujjaini Mukherjee and Abhijeet Ghoshal. Punjab will be represented by Rohanpreet Singh, Tarun Sagar and Mitika Kanwar”, further informs our source.

“Aneek Dhar was also to take part in the show, but he could not due to prior commitments”, adds our source.

“The shoot for the show will being on 27th October and the first episode will be aired on 30th October. SaReGaMaPa Mega Challenge will replace SaReGaMaPa L’il Champs”, adds our source.

The show will begin with a Prelim Round wherein one state will be pitted against another state. The four states winning in the Prelim Rounds will move to the Semifinals, which will be followed by the Finals.

“The anchor for the show is not yet decided, and will be finalized in few days’ time. There will not be any permanent judge in the show. We will see many veteran musical geniuses like Asha Bhonsle, Pyarelelji and Pandit Jasraj judge the contestants. Every episode will have a new judge”, informs our source.

So get ready for this unique musical extravaganza coming from Zee TV…

This show comes as a treat not only for Raja Hasan fans, but also all music lovers. Raja Hasan has a great oppertuinity in hand to showcase his talent infront of  biggies like Asha Bhonsle, Pyarelelji and Pandit Jasraj. We wish Raja Hasan all the very best!!

Tere Bin – Review!!

Anu Malik is totally out of gas, as is evident from his flicks of late. And he continues his (lack of) form in Teree Sang. His first song, Chal Mera Haath, is replete with stereotyped beats and a dull tune. His daughter Anmol Malik is decent on the vocals though. His next song is an even more unimpressive Lal Quile, where he attempts a rap akin to Ashok Kumar’s Rail Gaadi from Aashirwad. Even Anmol and Shaan’s singing do little to capture your interest. The best that can be said about the two numbers from Anu Malik is that they would sound way better when you listen to Bappi Lahiri’s Miss Baabloo!! Rendered by the man himself, this song is totally mindless and annoying. For that matter I have been annoyed with Bappida eversince he made that ridiculous claim about Jai Ho being inspired from his Ramba Ho. Coming back to the album however, Bappida does a surprise rebound next with Tere Bin. A song slightly reminiscent of Kailasa’s Teri Deewani in its progression, Raja Hasan and Sumedha Karmahe splendid on the vocals (Darbar I guess the raag is). Sumedha, by the way, was a finalist on SaReGaMaPa 07. Wonder where she was all this while. The debutant composer duo Sachin-Jigar make their entry with the pop style I will be there for you sung by Dominique and Clinton Cerejo. Next up is Leja Leja, a soft melody well arranged and rendered wonderfully by another debutante, Jahnvi Shrimankar and Salim (Shehzada I guess, from the voice). Maula Mila De, their next song, is a very engaging Sufi rock number sung to good effect by Suhail. Following up on the same mood, the duo belt out a second sufi rock song, Morey Saiyan, this time getting behind the mike themselves. And this one is even better than the previous one. The first interlude is totally engrossing with the classicalized guitar sequence (I have my doubts that it is Niladri Kumar on electric Sitar, as he did in Alvida from Metro). The duo sign off the album with a milder and folksy Rab Milya, coming out in Jigar’s voice. While Jigar has done a good job of the singing, Sachin and Jigar once again prove their astuteness with the orchestration.

Sachin-Jigar totally steal the thunder with their five songs in Teree Sang. Bappi Lahiri does a schizophrenic act, giving one totally crappy track and another very enjoyable number. And as for Anu Malik, consistency is the word! And hey, a soundtrack devoid of any remix!!

Raja Hasan and Sumedha Karmahe have both been participants of SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2007. Tere bin is a beautiful song where both the singers have very well represented their singing skills. The lyrics of the songs add to the feel of the song. Both the singers have an excellent range and have clearly managed to live up to the level of the song. Their voices complement each others very well. A song worth listening!!
